Panel discussion on 'Resilient communities'

Warming up to the UIA world congress in Copenhagen this summer, Martin Henn was invited to an event at the Danish embassy in Berlin to present our Gasteig project in Munich and join a panel discussion on "Resilient Communities" with Caroline Nagel (Cobe), Robert Martin (JAJA Architects) and Elise Pischetsrieder (weberbrunner architekten).
In his presentation he introduced our approach for the modernization of Europe’s largest cultural center. Designed and built almost 40 years ago, it combines several institutions and a wide range of cultural activities – from community education center to philharmonic concert hall.
With the understanding of 'culture as the glue of society', it is our obligation as architects to preserve, transform and future-proof places like the Gasteig, which strengthen the social fabric and contribute to the resilience of the community. Having involved people in the planning process who work here, visit and live nearby, we are ensuring that the Gasteig will contribute to holding society together for years to come.
The event on 9 March was organized by Danish Architecture Center (Dansk Arkitektur Center), UIA World Congress of Architects CPH 2023, and Creative Denmark in cooperation with the Danish Embassy in Berlin and the Architektenkammer Berlin.
